Dancing into community over competition. Hand in hand.

Sitting at a table with Jody.. .... I remember- it was a table at a cookout franchise! I don’t remember any part of the dream where she spoke. So maybe without words at all she slid an enamel pin across the table to me. It read in gold, sparkly letters on a red background, “Free Women Waltzing Club.”

Years before having this dream, her and I were at a different table, talking about how scary it would be to play our music to our hometowns. This would be the first show since coming out as a trans woman and an ex-professional-evangelical, now openly gay woman. We decided we had no control over how people would react to us or treat us but had control over ourselves, deciding to take the stage, owning our freedom and invite others to choose liberation from the bullshit for themselves as well. Free Women with an invitation to join us. I decided that was how I wanted to step into every scary situation, decidedly free- with an invitation.

FWWC is not gendered production company, it not for a specific type of artist or not- it is for those who decide everyone is invited. FWWC is committed to doing the work to create safe spaces in entertainment, arts, and community for all. Come dance with us.
